Most people like to sleep or stay in bed longer. That's why a comfortable bed is a must. To ensure this comfort, Bonsoirs helps you choose the right size of fitted sheets and duvets.
How to choose the size of your fitted sheet?
You can easily get lost looking for the right dimensions. Of course, this is not a choice to be made at random. Don't panic, we are here to guide you. Let's take a look at the criteria that will help you choose the size of your fitted sheet.
What size fitted sheet for a baby bed?
The standard size of a baby mattress is approximately 60x120 cm. A well-fitting cover should ideally be this size or a little larger.
So that your child can turn around without undoing their sheets, we advise you to choose a model that is approximately 5 cm longer than the mattress. This surplus will be folded under the bed to secure the infant and avoid nighttime discomfort.
As for the size of the duvet cover, the ideal would be a model of 100 x 120 cm for a bed of 60 x 120 cm. Of course, you can add a small margin for better coverage.
What size fitted sheet for a single bed?
Here it's a little more complicated, because there are more choices. The most common mattresses are 90 by 190 cm or 120 by 190 to 200 cm.
If you are unsure which sheet size to choose, we advise you to measure your mattress. The measurements of the cover can be identical to those of the latter or a little larger.
You also need to take into account the thickness of your mattress. If it is very high, you will need a suitable sheet.
As for the cover, the size of the duvet should be 140 x 200 cm for a 90 x 190 cm bed. However, you can choose a larger model.
What size fitted sheet for a 160 x 200 cm bed?
Sheets for 160 x 200 cm beds, otherwise known as queen size beds, should have dimensions of 240 x 300 cm if you opt for flat models. However, we do not recommend this category because it is a bit demanding.
The mattress is constantly falling apart and the bedding gets tangled with nighttime movements. In addition, duvet covers do not fit flat sheets which tend to stick out for a 160 cm bed.
Fitted sheets are a safe bet. With a size following that of the mattress, you are sure to have a nice cushion. A tip: to feel more comfortable, choose the largest size of fitted sheet that fits your mattress (180 x 220 cm with a large fitted sheet, for example).
If you have a TPR or lifting head and foot mattress, there are suitable covers which are 80 x 200 cm. A central band connects the two ends, without having a seam that could bother you while you sleep.
As for the size of the duvet cover for a 160 x 200 cm bed, the dimensions are 240 x 220 cm for low fall, which can go up to 260 x 240 cm.
What size fitted sheet for 2 people for a king size bed?
Size matters when it comes to mattresses. A large king size model is always more interesting, because it allows you to move as you please and make room for your children or even your friends during a sleepover.
To dress it, you will need a fitted sheet of the same size as the bed, that is to say 180 x 200 cm.
If your model is a TPR, simply choose dimensions of approximately 90 x 200 cm. The cap size will depend on the width of your mattress. That said, the standard sizes easily adapt to all thicknesses in general.
We also have a tip regarding the cover: the size of the duvet should be 260 x 240 cm for a 180 x 200 cm bed. However, you can always choose larger measurements in order to have a better fit.
If you are unsure of the size of your mattress, simply opt for the largest fitted sheet size, as king size beds are the largest available on the market.
What size fitted sheet for a standard double bed?
So-called standard double beds generally have dimensions of 140 x 200 cm. A suitable cover should have the same dimensions as your mattress or a little larger.
The downside with this bed is that it is sometimes difficult to find a TPR fitted sheet. It will therefore be necessary to either raise both sides simultaneously, or lower them at the same time. Of course, you can also choose a personalized model.
The size of the duvet is 180 x 200 cm for a 140 x 190 cm bed, but this is not a fixed rule. You can very well choose a larger duvet, a smaller duvet or even two individual duvets.
If you end up choosing a blanket for 2 people, you will also need to choose the size of the duvet cover for 2 people that you need. For low fallout, we recommend a margin of 20 cm in length and width. For a better fallout, you can go up to an additional 60 cm.
