In France, one in two households owns an animal, but sleeping with your companion, is that such a good idea?

In France, one in two households owns an animal, which shows whether these little companions are popular.

We're all crazy about our four-legged friends, they're adorable and can be a lot of fun (or annoying depending on how stupid they are).

But from there to sleeping with them? It's up to you to make your decision.

Sleeping with your pet is cute.

  • On these cold winter nights, you find yourself shivering in your bed every night; with a body temperature of around 38.5°, Minette would be a free heater that could warm your feet. We understand that you break down and call her for help, so she will spend a night on a very soft mattress, what luck!
  • Scientific studies have also shown that the presence of an animal in a bedroom helps improve the sleep of people suffering from insomnia, anxiety or stress. That's a good excuse to sleep with it.
  • Ultimately, sleeping with an animal allows their owner to feel more secure when sleeping. And yes, Médor will hunt the monsters hiding under your bed!

But that's not such a good idea.

  • One of the reasons why you should not sleep with your pets is that they have a very different sleep schedule than you. Certainly Minette sleeps on average 16 hours a day (a cat's life is so hard), but her rhythm is very different from yours. Your 4-legged companion will fall asleep, wake up, leave, come back, go back to sleep... In short, you understand, your sleep cannot be restorative. And especially think of the extremely violent awakenings of a cat who bites your feet, and yes, you should not move them under the duvet.
  • As for hygiene, your pet is covered in allergenic products which can affect your sleep (long live the asthma attack in the middle of the night), and also think about your beautiful sheets Good evening which will be stained with traces paws when you wake up (it seems that your pet loved the chicken that you had forgotten on the work surface).
  • Don't forget either that sleeping with your living blanket is not the best idea for your relationship.

So of course, cats and dogs are not the only animals you can sleep with, we could also have done this article with a ferret and a rabbit (but admit that it is much less common).

It's now up to you to weigh the pros and cons and decide whether or not you will share your nights with your favorite cuddly toy.

PS: Fish represent approximately 55% of the French animal park (OMG it's huge), we wanted to warn you for safety's sake (you never know) that sleeping with your fighter would seem to be a bad idea all the same.
