Discover the effects of the moon on your sleep!

The myths around the full moon are numerous, indeed, it would seem (among other things) that it increases:

  • the number of births,
  • hair growth,
  • the risk of getting sick.

But if there's one myth that's true, it's the one that the moon affects our sleep and keeps us up (we promise, it's almost proven).

The scientific evidence

Researchers from the University of Basel have discovered that the full moon disrupts several sleep parameters thanks to a study carried out on 64 people.

The observation is clear, on a full moon night:

  • the period of deep sleep of our little sleepers has decreased by 30%,
  • the secretion of the sleep hormone (melatonin, for those who want to play smart at the next family dinner) has also dropped,
  • the total duration of their sleep has decreased by 20 minutes (and we know that 20 minutes can change a night),
  • and their falling asleep time increased by 5 minutes (1 sheep, 2 sheep, 3 sheep… we continue).

So we grant you, for the statistical data on this subject to be really significant, it would be necessary to carry out experiments on a much larger scale. But until such a study is put in place (the Bonsoirs team is willing to act as guinea pigs), we will content ourselves with the results of these 64 sleepers.
