Bringing luxury into your bathroom is as easy as Bonsoirs. To determine which bath linen will meet your needs for softness, durability and comfort, worthy of the greatest hotels, you must look at three criteria: the size of the towel, its material and its weight.

Bath towel: a question of size

Have you ever struggled with a bath towel that was too small to dry yourself properly? Then you realized that there are several sizes in napkins. In fact, there are two sizes of bath towels : hand towels and bath sheets. The size of the bath towels is 50 x 100 cm. Ideal for drying your hair or face after getting out of the shower. Bath sheets are one size larger than towels . They measure 70 x 140 cm, so you can snuggle up in their softness after washing. They provide a larger surface area for drying. We must also not forget the guest towels , measuring 30 x 50 cm. They are mainly used for wiping your hands – whether you have guests or not!

Bath towel: the material also matters

The material from which the towel is made and the way in which it was woven determine its quality. Most sheets and bath towels, regardless of their size , are made of cotton, a natural material. The different qualities of woven cotton are distinguished in particular by the length of their loops. In general, the finer and longer the terry, the softer and fluffier the towel. To be sure that your towel or bath sheet does not contain compounds harmful to health and the environment, choose bath linen certified by the OEKO-TEX® label.

There are also sheets and bath towels made from microfibers. This material is made up of super fine synthetic fibers, most of the time polyester. Microfiber bath towels are used more by people who travel or play sports because they have three main benefits. They are very thin, and therefore take up almost no space in a bag. They dry very quickly. And they are very durable so they last a long time, even if they are washed often. However, in terms of comfort, warmth and softness, it's not quite that... So reserve for travel and the gym!

Weight of bath towels: a story of weight

When you're traveling or on vacation, you've probably noticed that the same size bathroom towels offered at high-end hotels are heavier than yours. And this, even if they are made with the same material. The explanation lies in the weight of the towel, that is to say the weight in grams per square meter of fabric. It's sort of the equivalent of thread count for bed sheets. The density of the loops and the thickness of the threads determine the weight of a towel. The heavier the yarn and the tighter the loops, the higher the weight of the towel. Most bath towels have a weight between 250 and 900 g/m2.

Please note: a lower weight does not mean that the bath towel is of lower quality. It will simply be less soft. So, low-weight towels are perfect for the gym, or if you prefer bath linen that dries more quickly . If you want to feel like you're at the spa every time you shower, opt for sheets and towels weighing at least 700 g/m2.
