Ah, the duvet, this bedding accessory that gives us so much comfort during winter nights! But when you want to keep it all year round, which one to choose? How to choose the best model to sleep comfortably with a duvet? Should you opt for a temperate or warm duvet? What are the differences ?
Characteristics of a temperate duvet and a warm duvet
The great thing about the duvet is that it gives us comforting warmth while allowing us to keep our bed spotless. Still need to find the right model!
What is a tempered duvet?
The temperate duvet is a light duvet , which you can keep on your bed all year round. Its filling and envelope are suitable for moderate seasons. It is also suitable in winter, for sleepers who are not chilly or in rooms heated to more than 18° C.
What is a warm duvet?
The warm duvet has a thick and dense filling. It is a model that is suitable for people who like to sleep in a room that is not too heated (less than 18° C).
There is therefore a different use for each duvet model depending on the temperature maintained in the room. To make the distinction between a warm duvet and a temperate duvet, two important criteria must be taken into account: the weight and the material.
Temperate or warm duvet? weight question
The grammage is the filling density in the envelope. It is given in grams and per m². The more grams, the thicker and warmer the quilt.
Weight for a temperate duvet
The temperate duvet is a model that is suitable for frequent use since it can be kept in any season. The ideal weight of this type of duvet is 220 gr / m². This density offers sleepers a comforter that is both fluffy and light. You would appreciate it if you are looking for a fluffy and breathable duvet . It is pleasantly enveloping and warm but without a feeling of suffocation.
If you want a lighter duvet, go for a featherweight model of 135 gr / m². This is the kind of puffy duvet that we love! It provides plush comfort while remaining cool and breathable, perfect for warm summer or early fall nights.
Weight for a warm duvet
For sleepers looking for a warm duvet when the temperature drops , we recommend a filling of at least 350 gr/m². It is a weight that offers the possibility of keeping your duvet all seasons. It provides comfort and good heat distribution. Get ready to spend cozy nights warm under your duvet.
What material to choose for a duvet?
We would like to draw your attention to another important criterion for choosing a duvet: the material. The material of the envelope brings softness to the touch , a caress for the skin. The composition of the filling is what gives the swelling and the softness: it is the cloud effect! At Bonsoirs, we favor quality and made in France. We have chosen our materials with care, they are naturally free of harmful substances.
natural material
The filling of Bonsoirs natural duvets is made up of 90% down and 10% duck feathers. We have bet on French quality for the materials and for the weaving of the envelope with combed cotton 91 threads / cm². With such a weaving, there is no risk that the feathers will escape. Thanks to the quilting in squares, the good distribution of the filling is ensured. And here is the recipe for making a soft and fluffy duvet.
We have chosen natural down for our light and temperate duvets because of its thermoregulatory properties. Sleepers thus benefit from a duvet that adapts to temperature variations.
Synthetic material
For an alternative to natural filling but with an equivalent soft and fluffy effect, consider the 100% recycled polyester fiber duvet . The wrap is designed with a tight weave that gives it a silky feel. The Bonsoirs synthetic duvet is certified free of harmful substances to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®. If we love it so much, it's also because it's easy to maintain (40°C in the washing machine).
We have designed a synthetic filling that has the same properties as natural down. With our warm and thick eco-responsible duvet, you benefit from a high weight, which compensates for a low temperature in the bedroom.
Temperate duvet versus warm duvet
To sum up, the Bonsoirs temperate duvet is made for you if:
- the temperature in your room is above 18°C;
- you are looking for a duvet with a natural filling;
- you want an all-season duvet.
The Bonsoirs warm duvet is the model that will suit you if:
- the temperature in your room is below 18°C;
- you prefer synthetic filling;
- you need a duvet that you can keep in the winter.
