What is an ecological duvet?

An eco-friendly duvet is a duvet made from eco-friendly and natural materials like organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, organic wool or wild silk.

These materials are grown sustainably, without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and are often produced locally to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation.

Our 100% natural duvet meets these criteria perfectly. Its high-end filling is made up of 90% down and 10% feathers for maximum comfort and it is produced in the south-west of France.

What are the advantages of buying an ecological duvet?

In addition to the benefits for nature and sustainable development, the ecological duvet also offers concrete benefits for your daily comfort. The natural duvet offers optimal thermoregulation, incomparable loft and excellent durability.

The ecological duvet with wool or down filling perfectly regulates your body temperature thanks to good air circulation. This means that with an eco-friendly duvet, you benefit from both a lightweight, 100% natural duvet for summer and a duvet to keep you warm in winter.

It is well known that the fluffiness provided by goose feather or duck down filling is unrivaled. Its softness makes you feel like you're sleeping on a cloud. At Bonsoirs, our duvets also have a combed cotton cover. This is why the softness of our products is incomparable.

What weight for an ecological duvet?

The ideal weight for a duvet depends on what you want to use it for and the season. For winter and cold weather, a weight of 270 g/m² is perfectly suited for a natural duvet.

For summer, 180 g/m² will be enough to not be too hot with down or feathers.

At Bonsoirs, we offer a duvet with a weight of 220gr/m² for use all year round.

What size for an ecological duvet?

The size of your eco-friendly duvet largely depends on the dimensions of your bed.

  • For a Queen bed 160 x 200 cm: a natural duvet measuring 260 x 240 cm.

  • For a King bed 180 x 200 cm: a natural duvet measuring 280 x 240 cm.

How to maintain an ecological duvet?

Unlike a synthetic duvet which must be cleaned once a month, a natural feather or down duvet only needs to be washed once a year. With more frequent washing, the duvet risks losing its fluffiness prematurely.

For washing the duvet, you can call a professional or do it yourself if you have a drum washing machine that can accommodate 15 kg of laundry. In this case, preferably use a mild, liquid detergent to preserve the suppleness of your duvet, without damaging it. For the temperature, opt for 40°C. For spinning, choose the minimum, and add a tennis ball to the drum. You can also dry your duvet naturally, in the sun, during sunny days. With this treatment, your ecological duvet will be like new.
