During the holidays, little ones love to spend more time snuggled up in their sheets . They will want to enjoy the evenings but also stay in bed later in the morning. All this in a new environment, a new room and perhaps with less familiar surroundings. Be careful not to shift your sleep schedule too much because returning from vacation could be very complicated for everyone! So how can we let our kids enjoy their vacation while minimizing the risks associated with the change of pace?

Good evenings shares his tips with you:

01. Keeping benchmarks

To establish a vacation routine, the best thing is to keep guidelines. At the vacation spot, we bring home shampoo, his little bath cape, his favorite cuddly toy, the story books that he loves, the night light that reassures him... You can even bring your sheets with the smells of the house, and his pillow that he knows well.

02. Have an evening routine

From 6 months onwards, our children's habits in terms of sleep and comfort are generally already well established. To avoid disrupting everything on vacation, one of the things to do is to create a routine before bed. Even if the rhythm is different on vacation, the regularity makes it easier to go to bed. The brain loves habits, and maintaining good sleep quality helps our children acclimate to external changes.

03. Make going to bed a positive time

Going to bed should not be associated with punishment or something negative. We must make our little one understand the benefits of sleep which allows him to grow and be in great shape for the wonderful day tomorrow.

04. Focus on naps

The best is a nap in a quiet bed, but some children fall asleep very well in the car, in the stroller or even on a deckchair in the shade. If he does not fall asleep on his own, we place him in a calm and soothing environment, with his comfort blanket. And we anticipate outings and evenings outdoors by putting our little things (pajamas, cuddly toy, storybook) in a small bag!

Taking care of the quality and quantity of our child's sleep during the holidays means ensuring a return to school with complete peace of mind for the whole family.
