What's more unpleasant than a rough towel? When we get out of the shower, we all dream of wrapping ourselves in a soft, fluffy towel!

Bonsoirs gives you its best tips for making the most of the softness of your bath linen , and for many years to come!

Why do towels get rough?

There are several reasons why towels can become rough. Washing, daily use and our (bad) habits take a toll on our bath linen. We explain everything to you:

  • Excessive use of detergent: If you use too much detergent when washing your towels, it can leave soap residue on the fibers, making them rough.
  • A use of fabric softener: While fabric softener can make your clothes and towels feel soft, it can also leave a coating on the fibers that can cause drying problems and give that rough appearance.
  • Choosing the program: If you wash your towels at a high temperature, this can cause the fibers to shrink, which can make them rougher. You must therefore be careful when choosing your washing machine program; poor rinsing will cause detergent to accumulate in the fabric of your towels.
  • Drying: If you dry your towels at high temperatures, it can dry out the fibers and make them rougher. We also advise you to avoid drying your towels on a radiator. Once dry, they will lose all their suppleness and softness!

To prevent your towels from becoming rough , we recommend washing them in lukewarm or cold water with a mild detergent and avoiding using fabric softener. For the drying part, we advise you to dry them at low temperature or hang them to dry in the open air.

4 solutions to keep your Good Evening towels soft…

Here are some more detailed tips so that you can take full advantage of your Good evening towels .

Using the washing machine

We recommend that you avoid overloading the drum as it will be less effective in rinsing detergent residue. Additionally, there won't be enough air to soften the fabric fibers.

Another tip: don’t use too much detergent! Your washing machine will be able to more easily remove the last soap residue that makes towels harder and less absorbent.

The ideal temperature for washing your towels is 40ºC ! No more washing at 60ºC which severely damages the fibers of bath linen. Economical, ecological and good for your laundry!

White vinegar or lemon

No more overpriced and ineffective chemical softeners: opt for white vinegar or lemon. These two natural solutions are the sworn enemies of limescale thanks to their acidity! They will also help you remove detergent residue embedded in the fibers. Don't worry, white vinegar won't leave your bathroom linens with any vinegary smell!

Tennis balls

Yes yes, you read correctly! You can put a tennis ball or two in your washing machine. They will hit your towels during washing to soften them and remove detergent residue!

The clothes dryer

The best solution remains the tumble dryer. It will restore fluffiness, suppleness and softness to your towels.

If you don't have a dryer, don't worry, there is another solution! Give your bath linen a quick iron on steam mode. Softness and flexibility guaranteed!
