Experts all agree that a child's sleep is just as important, if not more, than their daily activities. Sleeping well, in a soft bed , helps physical and brain development, improves concentration, limits the risks of diseases such as diabetes, excess weight or even hypertension.
And if your child wakes up several times a night or refuses a nap in his little bed , don't despair! There are a host of solutions.

Step 01. Understand your child's sleep cycles
Every age has its own sleep rhythm! In fact, we don't sleep the same way at 1, 6 or 15 years old.
First of all, the 3 month mark.
Newborns sleep a lot (up to 20 hours a day!) but unfortunately not all at once. Their sleep cycle lasts on average 50 minutes to 1 hour and is interspersed with lunch breaks. It makes you hungry to grow!
It is during this period that the brain will develop the most and gradually understand the difference between day and night which punctuates our lives. This is also when your little one needs you the most. In fact, he is not yet old enough to fall asleep alone! But don't panic, for most babies, sleep autonomy arrives from the 4th month.
From the age of 3, your little one's sleep stabilizes and you can see the end of the tunnel, aka Sunday rest! Your child now associates nighttime with sleep and bed and therefore no longer needs naps as much. It is also capable of storing calories over a longer period and limiting nighttime cravings. However, these changes in pace can sometimes be synonymous with nightmares (we'll explain all this to you right after ;)).
Then it's as simple as Good evening ! Each milestone in your mini's life is a pivotal moment for their sleep. The start of primary school, middle school and then high school are as many changes in the organization of one's days as those of one's nights.
Step 02. Anticipate change

Now that you know all the facts about sleep, you can prepare a plan of attack to help your child have a peaceful night's sleep .
Who says back to school, says back to a rhythm! Did you know that specialists recommend 8 to 10 days to resolve sleep lag due to vacation? So no more returning from Grandpa's house at 10 p.m. the day before the start of school! During the last days of vacation, we take the opportunity to explain to our little one the return to school and put him to bed earlier and earlier. Your little ones may be disturbed by all these new things, so take the time to help them in this transition, with moments just for you before bedtime where you can talk about your day and recharge your batteries.
Step 03. Take care of your bedding
Your little ones spend almost 12 hours, or half their days, in bed! The comfort and softness of their sheets are therefore just as important, if not more, than those of yours. We therefore favor natural and breathable materials, which have the effect of a second skin, and which also limit the risk of allergies! Our washed percale is made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, this is the assurance of not finding any chemical substances for your mini and the planet ;)
After choosing the material, it’s time to choose the size. Sleeping well also means sleeping in sheets that fit your bed. From the cradle to the big bed, your little one wants to see a change! That’s good, Bonsoirs took care to create a size guide. No more fitted sheets that are too small and duvet covers that gape.
And finally, the final touch! The choice of colors. And there’s something for everyone! Between your minis who change their favorite characters every week and you who dreamed of a pretty, fully decorated room for your baby, Bonsoirs has decided. We please parents and children with sets in fresh and pastel colors (more soothing than flashy ones which tend to prevent them from falling asleep), plain or patterned to mix up their desires! And we personalize the pillowcase with your little one's name to show him that it's his bed just for him!
Step 04. Pace the days
You know that feeling of spending the day in bed relaxing and when it's time to go to bed, you can't fall asleep? This backlash, our minis are also victims. Take care to punctuate your child's day with numerous activities to burn off their energy, such as a pool day where they end up wrapped in their super bathing cape . You will very quickly see the famous signs of imminent sleep appear: rubbing eyes, a grumpy look and the beginnings of drowsiness.

If, despite the many dives, your little one doesn't seem tired, settle him in his bedroom and read a nice book before bed. Kill two birds with one stone, he will fall asleep while learning: a task just learned before bedtime will be memorized 30% more easily than another discovery during the day.
Step 05. Declare war on nightmares

Insomnia, hypersomnia, parasomnia, so many complicated words that send shivers down your spine. Our little ones are more prone to disturbed sleep than us, particularly because they dread bedtime and separation from parents. They need reassurance that no one will be missing when they wake up. To do this, we create an evening routine and a welcoming and relaxing environment! We favor a room with calm colors, like those of our new Sets with playful, cool and discreet patterns, and we limit all disruptors like strong colors, luminous objects (bye-bye screens and tablets of all kinds) and toys scary looking. We establish a fixed bedtime, which includes the famous "teeth, pee and bed", the numerous trips back and forth because mini wants "one last story", "one last cuddle", "one last 'I love you' mom'” and finally the moment of falling asleep. Even though it can sometimes be hard, it is advisable that your child sleeps in his own bed, all alone like a grown-up! He can of course be accompanied by a cuddly toy which will protect him in the event of nightmares.
